Description:
A member of the aster family introduced from Europe. Also known a bachelor's button.
Habitat:
Found along roadsides and in fields. It gets the name cornflower from its presence in European grain fields, where wheat and related grains are called corn.
Notes:
The flower is edible, though I've never tried it.
