Field Notes

Description:

We spotted this fellow wading in the shallows near the Shipandani Hide, just a short drive from the Mopani rest camp in Kruger National Park. We were fortunate enough to have stayed overnight in the hide all by ourselves, and were rewarded with lots of bird sightings, as well as Hippo, Crocs and Waterbuck

Habitat:

Vegetated margins of rivers and dams, feeds on fish, amphibians and a wide range of aquatic insects and fish.
