Field Notes

Description:

The insect is yellowish gray with dark patches. There is a creamy coloured cross-shape on the prothorax. The elytra are large and transparent, sometimes speckled with brown.

Habitat:

The Moroccan locust lives in arid areas with rainfall for development in the months from March to May is one hundred millimetres. If the spring is unusually hot and precipitation is low, and especially if it is the second dry spring in succession, numbers of young locusts can increase dramatically.

This pretty little insect looks like a species of Meadow Katydid: http://bugguide.net/node/view/460781 The Moroccan Locust is not found in North America. It is found in Africa, Europe and Asia.
