Field Notes

Description:

It doesn't have any flowers but it has a fruit hanging down from a branch like a long hair. The fruits are green and are 0.5cm wide and 0.5cm long. The leaf shape is irregular. Its edge are spiky and the sizes are all different. The middle sized leaves are 12cm wide and 20cm long. Its leaf margin is sinvate and the leaf venation is netted palmate. The leaf arrangement on the branches are alternate. The texture of the leaf is waxy and sticky.

Habitat:

A rainforest secondary in Singapore. There are lots and lots of spiders and the rainforest is pretty damp.

Notes:

The leaf of the plant smells sweet. It might be attractive to insects. The bark texture is very rough with lots of things sticking out. The plant's root system is prop and silt.
