Field Notes

Description:

One of the larger least geckos, this is actually the adult size. Around 4-6cm in length, this tiney gecko lives in leaf litter around trees, bamboos and other plants foraging for tiny insects.

Habitat:

This gecko was found on a trail at the Toro Negro National Park. This area is densly forested and can be quite wet at some moments. Endemic to Puerto Rico.

Thanks, they are actually quite easy to spot if you have a keen eye. This is the larger of the least gecko species, another one that I have S. nicholsi is the smallest of the species. S. nicholsi also coexistes with S. macrolepis though one is diurnal and the other nocturnal.
