Field Notes

Description:

Brown and black grasshopper that blends in too well with pine straw, twigs and similar decaying matter on the ground.

Habitat:

Sandy areas, often on sand bars of stream beds, near lake shores, in dune areas, along sandy roads or ditch banks.

Notes:

Spotted at Torreya state park on the Apalachicola River west of Tallahassee, FL.
