Description:
Brackets of Ganoderma resinaceum can grow 10 to 45 cm across and up to 10 cm thick, semicircular, sessile, or on a thick rudimentary stem. The upper surface is concentrically grooved, strikingly glossy as if varnished, red-brown or maroon to almost black, margin obtuse and cream-coloured. Tubes are 5 to 20 mm long and rusty-brown.
Habitat:
Parasitic/saprobic, on dying tree trunks particularly oak and beech.
Notes:
Not sure about this one, so suggestions are more than welcome. Spotted on a dead beech trunk in Paleispark 't Loo in rural area of Apeldoorn, Holland. (sources:see reference)
