Description:

They have an overall brown coat, and can be differentiated from the White-tailed Deer by the tail. The mule deer has a large white rump patch with a black tip on the tail, where the white-tailed deer has a white patch that only shows when the tail is up.

Habitat:

Found in the western US, this herd was found in prairie like thorn scrub habitat.
