Field Notes

Description:

Africa has so many species of ungulates (hoofed mammals), but one of my favourites has to be the Waterbuck. With their shaggy coats and heart-shaped noses, they are truly a unique sight!

Notes:

Waterbucks have an oil on their skin and fur that is designed to protect them when they enter water bodies. It also makes them an undesirable prey item in the eyes of many predators (including humans) - lucky them!
