Field Notes

Description:

These dainty little flowers are just coming into bloom so a sure sign that spring is on its way!!! The cup-shaped, solitary, salverform flowers taper off into a narrow tube. Their color varies enormously, although lilac, mauve, yellow and white are predominant.

Habitat:

These were seen out on a walk in the Derbyhire dales, however Crocuses are native to woodland, scrub and meadows from sea level to alpine tundra in central and southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, on the islands of the Aegean, and across Central Asia to western China.

no problem Daniel. I think the issue is that the majority of English members do not log very often or even submit stuff anymore which is why I looked at the date of the submissions when I was suggesting my mission to them, maybe its an idea to start from scratch and keep an eye out for any new postings or keep an eye on who appears on line frequently.
Thank you Debbie for your huge contribution already! It's been difficult getting it off the ground as it doesn't seem to appear in the local mission search engine. I look forward to seeing more plant submissions from you - its a great learning experience seeing other's spottings :) And best of luck for your Birds mission, I will keep my eye out for some!
Hi Daniel, I will gladly put all of my plant spottings into your mission seeing as you have kindly joined my Birds of Britain mission without me having to ask! I still have some plants to upload as they are blooming nicely over this side of the pennines :-)
Hi Debbie. Lovely troop of crocuses you have there! It's nice to see the variety of plants we have locally. You should join the Plants of Britain mission: www.projectnoah.org/missions/22624101 - Happy spotting!
It definitely is Alice and I was very glad to see them!
