Field Notes

Description:

A dark grey-brown amanita with its smooth convex cap about 40 mm wide. Gills were white and close. The stipe was sturdy widening slightly at the base and covered with white soft fibres. The part below the striated skirt-like annulus was grey.

Habitat:

Spotted growing on sand in a bush reserve with banksias, eucalypts and casuarina- Green's Bush ( Mornington Peninsula)

Thanks Jae. Only spotted it because another mushroom nearby had been kicked over by some one...so I decided to look around in the area.
Nice spotting, Leuba. Looks like a well camouflaged mushroom :)
