Description:

large white grub - about 40 mm, brownish-black head and brown spiracles along the sides of the body; adult beetles seen in June

Habitat:

garden soil; have seen crows eat them

Notes:

found several when we dug up the soil in garden bed, find them a lot in mulched areas, can cause damage in larval stage
