Field Notes

Description:

Falcon with black and white facial markings that looked like "whiskers" and mottled chest feathers perched on a dead tree limb. This is a juvenile perergrine falcon.

Habitat:

Dead tree along an inland fresh water canal in western Boca Raton, FL.

Notes:

I thought this might be an osprey but the whiskers and chest looked a bit like an immature peregrine falcon.
