Field Notes

Description:

These insects were about 3/4 inch long. The insects had what looked like hairs on their backs, possibly for camouflage. Upon examination on a later date, I found that they had six tiny white legs on the undersides.

Habitat:

This was found during a mostly dry part of the year, in a secondary rainforest on a sunny day in Singapore. It was given partial shade by medium-size trees above it.

Notes:

I've included clear photos of both the insect and the plant it was resting on/eating. If anyone could give me a suggestion based on either of those two, it would be much appreciated.
This might be a Cotton-Topped Leafhopper. See http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/19443279. Tell me if you think it is.

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

This is a great picture! I hope that you get a species ID. I think this is a nymph of a leaf hopper species, but I am not sure.
