Field Notes

Description:

The fungi has pale-green leaf-like structures. They seem to to grow on the bark of a tree in a spot-like pattern.

Habitat:

Lichen grow in a variety of places, even in extreme environments, most common are branches and leaves in woodland areas or the rainforest. They even live on rocks, soil surfaces or on rooftops.

Notes:

It is not uncommon to see lichen growing on trees. Everywhere I go in woodland areas, I notice lichens growing on living or dead trees. What is interesting to me is that lichens consist of both fungi and plants.
