Field Notes

Description:

Black, short-spined sea urchin about 4 inches across and 3 inches high. Fragments of seaweed that it had "collected" are attached to its surface.

Habitat:

Nearshore tropical waters.

Notes:

Spotted in about 6 feet of water offshore of Aweoweo Beach Park. Removed from the water and placed on a boogie board for my granddaughters to see, and where it was imaged. It was then returned to the seabed.
