Description:

This hawkmoth has been parasitized by an Akanthomyces fungus, a Cordyceps anamorph peculiar to moths until it caused it's demise (seemingly during a normal resting period) and totally consuming and mummifying the corpse.

Spectacular. How did I miss this. I wonder if the fungus 'effects' the resting position or location.. as some other parasitic fungi seem to.
