Description:
A shrub that is a member of the madder family. The oval leaves are in opposite pairs or whorls of three. The small flowers form dense spherical heads with protruding pistils.
Habitat:
Buttonbush prefers moist soil near water.
Notes:
I'm guessing that the skipper can't be ID'd from this picture, but I'd love for someone to prove me wrong.
