Field Notes

Notes:

We got a ton of rain this summer and it flooded the beach access points. Not knowing that 4 accesses down it was not flooded, I walked through a flooded one and saw tadpoles in it. Later that day, I walked back down the sidewalk and saw this little juvenile toad ahead of me. Here is the little guy and that's the crack of the sidewalk!

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (3)

I always look at everything on the recent organisms page :) Even if things don't need an ID, I still enjoy seeing them!
Your Highness of Herpetofauna, :) Thank you for not overlooking this post since it did not say help me ID.
This is a little toadlet. A leopard froglet would have much larger back legs and a longer nose, as well as at least a few spots on the back. At this age they are pretty hard to tell apart, but with range and weeding out the very different looking species, you are left with Southern Toad, Anaxyrus terrestris :)
