Description:
Sphingidae, Sphinginae, Ambulycini, Adhemarius sexoculata, male.
Cajanuma Entrance, Parque Nacional de Podocarpus, 2800 m asl, Provincia de Loja, Ecuador
Habitat:
Rainforest/cloud forests up to higher altitudes, reported from all northern parts of South America. Usually it has at least two breeds, depending on weather and climate conditions. Host plants are Ocotea sp.. The adults usually flies around midnight.
Notes:
Somebody forgot to shut down the lights at the ranger station, so we had quite a surprising morning with a lot of nice moths. Personally I was also surprised about find so many moths at almost 3000 m asl.
