Field Notes

Description:

Black butterfly with grayish-blue tail. White spots line the perimeter of the wings. There are four distinct orange spots, two on each side.

Habitat:

Spotted in a garden in City Park in New Orleans.

Notes:

I think it is specifically Papilio troilus troilus, the more common subspecies.
