Field Notes

Description:

round puffy dry flat brick red cap about 5 cm across that has extensive cracks of yellow and brick red as it ages; dark yellow webbed unattached gills, reddish medium thick stalk about 7 cm tall, found in grass; stem reddish over a yellow ground color; the top of stem has a ring of yellow ridges

Habitat:

grass under hardwoods

Notes:

These are different fungus but I think they are all the same species; the solid red top may be younger and gets cracked when older; the first is more flat and the second looks like a red ball cut in half

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

It seems to be a bolete sp. to a better ID you have to cut the bolete in two,so we can see the flesh.
