Field Notes
Description:
A medium sized wallaby with light brown hair, paler beneath. The ears are black along the front edge & they have a white face stripe & white hip stripe. They feed on native grasses, plants & roots & will also feed on cane crops & fresh grass that regenerates after fire. Gestation is around a month & the young (called a Joey) will stay in the pouch for about 7 to 8 months, weaning at about 10 to 11 months.
Habitat:
Found in the tropical areas of Western Australia, the Northern Territory & Queensland.
Notes:
Found feeding on the beach with Eastern Grey Kangaroos at Cape Hillsborough National Park.
