Lyre-leaf sage
Salvia lyrata
37.4111, -77.6829
Field Notes
Description:
This is a common herbaceous wildflower in the eastern United States. The deeply lobed basal leaves gives the plant its common name. The flowers appear in whorls in the spring.
Habitat:
Fields, open woods.
Notes:
I'm posting this poor quality picture mostly to show the leaves that I didn't photograph in a later spotting of the flowers.
