Description:
1-5 feet tall, flower-head 1/2 to 1 inch wide. The seedpods have curved barbs designed to hold onto passing animals and help distribute them. Turkeys eat the seeds throughout the winter. Sometimes the turkeys feathers are covered with the barbs.
Habitat:
fields, pastures and waste places.
