Description:

deciduous tree; easily recognize the wart-like bumpy bark; small round 1/4 inch dark purple berries; Leaves are alternate, simple, wider at the bottom going up to a point, 2 to 5 inches long, serrated margin, pinnately veined, with acuminate tip and an inequilateral base, three distinct veins originate from base, maybe hairy or scruffy, green above and paler below

on the edge of a creek bank
