Description:
This spider has a red cephalothorax and a dark abdomen with geometrical figures in golden yellow. Its pouch-like web was on the under-surface of a leaf and it kept slipping into it. Cannot make out what that circular thing is inside the web...egg case?
Habitat:
Kayaler bagan or Kayal's garden is now the Chintamani Kar bird sanctuary in the heart of Kolkata city. Although called a garden, it is not a landscaped area with only garden varieties...rather everything growing wild is preserved.Old, epiphyte laden trees rub branches with bamboo groves and wild vines trail all over . So called weeds flourish. it is a 17 acre small enclosed area where visitors pay a small fee to enter and can go on a rambling walk.
