Description:

The Costal Range newt (Taricha torosa torosa) is a subspecies of the California Newt. It is native to the coast, California Coast Ranges, and western Transverse and Peninsular Ranges, from Mendocino County south to San Diego County.

@SFShep: The UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens has a Japanese pool and there are newts there during the mating season. They are really cool!
I have never seen a salamander or newt. I've looked in every moist place I can think of. I WILL find one.
