Field Notes

Description:

The group had 6 adults and 2 juveniles. When I first spotted them they were grazing in an open meadow (pic 5) then for some reason they decided to start running toward me though they couldn't see me (pics 1-4). These groups can be as large as 50 individuals.

Spotted grazing in an open meadow (pic 5) at the Bosque Del Apache NWR in New Mexico.

Species ID Suggestions

According to Wikipedia, they have small tusks that point toward the ground when the animal is upright. They don't appear to be visible.
