Description:

maybe 11 mm; distinct large orange compound eyes; fuzzy thorax and abdomen; black & white longitudinal stripes on thorax

Habitat:

edge of the woods on a Willow Oak leaf

Notes:

named because sometimes lay eggs in open flesh wound; scavengers of small carrion, such as dead insects and snails or smaller vertebrates; adults & larvae also known to eat decaying vegetable matter and excrement, and they may be found around compost piles and pit latrines
