Description:

Phthiacnemia picta is a leaf-footed bug that doesn't have leg flanges. These are all nymphs showing varying degrees of development. The orange pattern is variable.

Habitat:

Spotted on a low lying plant with large leaves in a butterfly garden at the National Butterfly Center in Mission, Texas.

Notes:

Found from Southern U.S. to Argentina. According to BugGuide: hosts: Solanum nigrum, sometimes other Solanaceae.
