Field Notes

Description:

Large brown raptor with with patches, pale yellow feet, and grey & black tail.

Habitat:

Park

Notes:

It was very neat, bad kind of sad to see this bird quickly devour this poor and helpless squirrel. It's sharp beak and talons made it easy for this Red-tailed hawk to get a nice meal.

Thx, Oskar! Give credit to my mom for spotting it out!
Ok. I was wondering if I was right, Thx for the ID!
This bird is much too stocky to be an Accipiter. Also, the speckled belly band, tail with skinny bands, and white scapular 'v' on the back all make this a red-tailed hawk.
