Field Notes

Description:

Caterpillar approx. 3 cms in length. Colour grey to black, well defined body segments, brownish bristles. Body heavier at rear and narrows towards head. Feeding on succulent plant.

Habitat:

Suburban garden.

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (4)

No holes. It crawled across the path and headed straight for the plant. I made it detour a couple of times but it was intent on reaching the succulent. I didn't hang around long enough to see it graze.
Hmm.. I would guess a borer-type moth. Any hole in the succulent?
