Stick Insect, Phasmid - Nymph
Orthomeria sp
18.5773, 120.835
Field Notes
Description:
This is a Nymph of a Stick Insect of the genus Orthomeria.
As it is still a Nymph, it is not possible to identify to the exact specie.
However, as this specimen was found at a very remote area, there is a possibility this could be an undescribed specie.
Like other species of Orthomerias, the new hatchlings behaves like an Ant.
It moves around quite actively like an Ant, and when moving, it curls up its abdomen/tail to look more like an Ant than a Phasmid.
This specimen is around 11-12mm in size, relatively small.
Hope to return to the location in 2-3 months time to look for the adult of this specie.
