Description:
Spring weather has been so slow to arrive in the northeastern United States this year, and so I was thrilled to find this plant getting ready to bloom!
<br><br>
This plant has small, purple flowers with a darker blue stripe down each petal. Flowers have 6 petals and basal, grass-like leaves. It was approximately 7 cm tall.
Habitat:
Spotted growing throughout a mixed forest along the edge of a stream.
Notes:
This species was brought to the United States as an ornamental, but has escaped into the wild and become invasive.
