Field Notes

Description:

Looks like the leaves of cedar trees coming out of the ground. No branches. Grows about an inch high. Vine appears to crawl around under leaf litter. Evergreen.

Habitat:

Found mainly in shady to spotty sun forest areas. Not uncommon in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. In this case, it was found near Lake Higgins Guilford County NC but doesnt need high moisture areas.
