Field Notes

Description:

A very large Sulphur butterfly, with a near 4 inch wingspan. Adults are strong flyers and are often seen high over the canopy.

Habitat:

Mexico south to Argentina. Migrates north to South Texas & occasionally the Great Plains. Open subtropical areas. Host plant: Senna (Senna spectabilis). Adults nectar from red - purple flowers including Lantana, Bougainvilla, and Hibiscus.
