Field Notes

Description:

A resident in the Himalayas, Dippers have an excellent ability to hunt by diving and wading through the fast running streams. They can actually stay under water for up to 30 seconds. Their diet includes large benthic organisms, a wide range of other smaller aquatic invertebrates and fish.

Habitat:

Spotted this at one of the mountain streams.

Notes:

It's a delight watching them 'dip' in to the water and bobbing back to the surface.
