Found on the ground in a very damp and green area of the woods.

Species ID Suggestions

Gem studded puffball

Lycoperdon perlatum

no worries. Both are edible species, you just have to be sure they're not 'Amanita eggs'
Didn't take good enough notes with this picture. I'll have to keep an eye out for it again this year. Thanks for the suggestions!
if they are growing on buried wood then maybe it's Lycoperdon pyriforme but if not growing on wood maybe L. perlatum but I'd be less sure
did they have stems? Venation?
