Field Notes

Description:

Three white mushrooms, caps flat, knobbed, with brown veil remnant patches. Largest individual cap ~ 90 mm x ~ 100 mm, margin slightly projecting. Stems slightly club-shaped, white, smooth, with annulus on upper stalk. Largest individual had stem diameter 12 mm tapering to 8 mm, stem length (height) ~ 120 mm, stem base elliptical/slightly flattened. Gills slightly gray-green, close, free.

Habitat:

Suburban neighborhood on mesic, tropical, insular lowland plateau.

Notes:

Spotted growing in ground cover at the edge of a strip of lawn bordering a parking lot in a suburban development. The largest was collected, measured and imaged separately.
