Description:

I have more of a question. I know this is a Mallard, and was told that he is in his eclipse plumage. However, I have seen him for several months and his coloration has not changed. Does it take that long for an eclipse? Could this be a hybrid?

Kriss it can take until October before the eclipse plumage has come and gone. You can then rest assured to recognize your dabbler as a proper striking Mallard again.
