Field Notes

Description:

Large brown moth with jagged white mark near the tips of the wings. Large eye-shaped marks on wings.

Habitat:

Near a bamboo thicket...area lying fallow. The place is called Shyamkhola ...it is close to the Chintamani Kar Bird sanctuary in Kolkata.

Notes:

This area is a haven for biodiversity but is under threat from an expanding city.
