Field Notes

Description:

The Sea Otter is a marine mammal native to the coasts of the northern and eastern North Pacific Ocean. It preys mostly on marine invertebrates such as sea urchins, various molluscs and crustaceans, and some species of fish. They sometimes get in large groups to feed or for safety; this is called rafting (picture 2).

Habitat:

The coastal areas of the Pacific ocean.

Notes:

I saw these guys on a tour boat back in August 2012.

Nice shots Ian! I especially like the second one with all the otters.
Beautiful, Ians! I saw so many in Sitka but regretfully I could not obtain pictures. I am delighted to see these. Thank you for sharing. Welcome to Project Noah. We have high schoolers like you in PN. Jackubko, Liam, Shea to name a few. Wishing you a great Project Noah experience!
