Field Notes

Description:

Dark root-like cords stretching all over downed logs. At first I thought they were remnants of english ivy or something like that but then I read somewhere that honey mushroom networks look like this. Are these Armillaria rhyzomorphs? I see them a lot in Prospect Park. Are these going to produce honey mushrooms?!?

Habitat:

dead logs

Notes:

Will honey mushrooms really come out of these??
