Description:

The preceding photo gallery shows three stages in the life of a Great Blue Skimmer dragonfly, in chronological order: Photo 2 shows an immature male; Photo 3 (same as Photo 1) shows a young male; and Photo 4 shows an adult male. The three stages are marked by development of pruinosity, ranging from not pruinose to partially pruinose to completely pruinose. Note: A different dragonfly is shown in each of the three photos.
