Description:

In a recent visit to "Banavasi", temple town near Sirsi, Karnataka, India found this flower.

This one is a big tree. Heard that it has lot of medicinal values as it is grown in Pamapavana a collection of medicinal plant here.
Have to search for further details regarding this..

Habitat:

It is a tree found in gardens, forests.

Thanks for the ID again Nuwan. But the flowers i saw were yellowish in colour. Does they belong to same species ? pride of India flowers i saw here look a bit different. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lagerstroemia_speciosa Will try to upload photo of that flower..
