Description:

Large butterfly, 6 to 7 cm wingspan, mainly white in appearance, with black spots and red circles on wings.

Habitat:

Seen in large numbers in montane pastures of Jura range.

Notes:

This species is vulnerable by IUCN; and protected in France.

Excellent spotting and beautiful photos, Zlatan! For me it was hard work at 15,000 ft for more than one hour to get a decent, presentable photo of an Apollo. But couldn't succeed.
