Field Notes

Description:

Adult: forewing brown basally and in terminal area; median and subterminal areas with dense light gray speckling and three irregular white spots arranged in a triangle; each white spot surrounded by black shading; legs and antennae banded black and white (from BugGuide).
Wingspan about 10 mm
Host plant is various herbaceous plants including cudweed, everlasting, pussytoes.

Habitat:

Moth came to the black light on my porch. I live in rich woods, edge of field where pussytoes grow.

Notes:

This was a life moth.
National Moth Week.
