Field Notes

Description:

Two bluebirds watching over their nesting box.

Habitat:

Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD

Notes:

These two bluebirds nested in my backyard only to have both sets of chicks eaten by two different black rat snakes. I moved the nesting box after the 1st incident and thought the snakes couldn't get to it. I was wrong. I felt really bad for the couple of bluebirds.
