Field Notes

Description:

I only got two shots and those at odd angles too...still, I remember the broad white V on the back which was diagnostic. Brilliantly coloured in rusty-orange, white and black.

Habitat:

On a garden path...the garden is actually a sort of overgrown wilderness; a biodiversity haven and part of the land around the house of an avian expert, now in his nineties. We had to promise to keep on the bricked part only as there were ground nesting birds and snakes in the areas running wild. This area is called Shyamkhola and is a popular birding spot. The butterfly flew like a bomber aircraft taking off.... clearing my head with inches to spare.

Notes:

Called Koronjia in Bangla.
